Ewan McGregor has been in Africa on a 15,000 mile motorcycle trip with Charley Boorman & apparently wasn’t homesick for the U.K.
In a interview with Radio Times magazine McGregor was quoted as saying “Our trip really opened my eyes to how insane the rules are everywhere in Britain – CCTV cameras everywhere, congestion charges – it’s just a ludicrous nanny state.”
Then he tries to convince us he doesn’t have a lot of cash:
“If anything drives me out of the country it will be that, not tax. I don’t earn enough to worry about tax!”
On public safety:
“Health and safety is out of control too. In Africa, garage attendants smoked as they filled the bikes up with petrol. I took great pleasure in that!”
Yeah, brilliant!!
On depression: “The happiest people are often those who have the least. In Britain we’re depressed yet have so much.”
Ewan is a hot piece so I would agree with anything he says, even if the possibility of people blowing themselves up at the gas station humors him! But I have to point out that he left out the worst thing of all about the U.K.:
- The food is disgusting!!!!! Don’t feel safe with McDonalds & Pizza Hut over there either, it’s like hot vomit!

It’s “the possibility of people blowing themselves up at the gas station amuses him! “, not “humors”. And actually British food is amonsgt the best in the world now; 20 years ago perhaps it was some of the worst but not now. Also, as far as I can tell Pizza Hut and McDonalds is basically vomit everywhere by design.
Thanks for correcting my grammar Guv! Bangers & Mash or Lasagna & chips aren’t my thing for casual food but whatever , I’ll take your word. It’s an acquired taste. Also, I don’t care if you are a foodie, every once in awhile you will swim in the sweet sea of a sinful fast food delicacy in the name of McDonalds or Pizza Hut, it’s just not the same quality of sin as it is in the US where it’s authentic.
